Google Michigan City Data Center (Project Maize)
Michigan City, LaPorte County, IN
Construction is under way on Google Michigan City Data Center (Project Maize) in Michigan City, IN. The project is sized at 300 MW. Google confirmed on April 16, 2026 its purchase of the Project Maize site, the former Anco wiper factory off Royal Road in Michigan City. NIPSCO signed a power supply deal for the project; EEI's Sept 2026 large-load list describes it as a 300 MW data center (capacity_mw = that load figure). A later IDEM air permit filing doubled backup generators to 132 for a second building.
