Project Washington
Delaware City, New Castle County, DE
Project Washington, a data center project in Delaware City, DE associated with Starwood Digital Ventures, has stalled. The facility is reported at 1,200 MW. 11-building, ~6M sq ft, 580-acre hyperscale campus proposed north of Delaware City (New Castle County), between Dupont Highway, Governor Lea Road and River Road. In Feb 2026 DNREC ruled the plan (516 diesel backup generators) violates the Coastal Zone Act; a state board upheld that denial in March 2026, and Starwood withdrew its court appeal in July 2026 after Delaware passed stricter data-center legislation. As of Aug 28, 2026 the project cannot proceed under its current design, but Starwood says it is still working with regulators to find a path forward -- so status is live but unresolved, not dead.
