Heritage Industrial Park data center (Walker County)
Quinton, Walker County, AL
A new data center, Heritage Industrial Park data center (Walker County), has been announced in Quinton, AL. A data center is rumored for Heritage Industrial Park, a 200-acre park on reclaimed mine land owned by the Walker County Economic & Industrial Development Authority (WCEIDA), by the I-22 Dora exit. The Town of West Jefferson issued an "ability to serve" letter for a "proposed development" at the park: 10,000 gallons of water a day at first, up to 100,000 later (non-binding, project not named). Alabama Power has 115 kV and 46 kV transmission at the site. In June 2026 county commission chairman Steve Miller called the data center talk unconfirmed and said there are no plans; WCEIDA says it has no confirmed tenant and does not comment on pending projects. A resident (report to Architect Digital, Oct 6, 2026) says Headwaters Global / Apollo has approached landowners for transmission-line rights, that NDAs cover the water request, and that a public road was closed and access to a historic African American cemetery cut off; none of this is confirmed in reporting. Developer unknown. Coordinates approximate (Sharon Blvd near I-22). Sources: WBRC (Jun 2, 2026); Daily Mountain Eagle; WCEIDA site sheet.
