Greenbrier Land Development Company Shady Spring data center rezoning
Shady Spring, Raleigh County, WV
Greenbrier Land Development Company Shady Spring data center rezoning, a data center project in Shady Spring, WV, has stalled. Greenbrier Land Development Company sought to rezone more than 700 acres in Shady Spring for a data center in late 2023; the county planning board recommended it in Dec 2023, but after strong resident opposition the Raleigh County Commission postponed and then on Jan 9, 2024 voted to table the rezoning indefinitely, citing lack of information from the developer. No revival reported; Raleigh County residents continued organizing (Citizens for Responsible Development in Raleigh County) and held data center town halls in July-Aug 2026 seeking repeal of HB 2014.
