Birchwood Tech Campus
Birchwood Tech Campus, a data center project in King George County, VA associated with Amazon Data Services (AWS), has stalled. Amazon Data Services (AWS) is planning a data center campus on the site of a shuttered power plant in King George County, VA. AWS withdrew its application to the Virginia DEQ for a groundwater permit to draw up to 6.4 million gallons/year after opposition citing a declining aquifer east of I-95; AWS says it intends to work with VDEQ on alternative water sourcing and continue the campus. Locally referred to as the Birchwood project/campus.
