Amazon (AWS) Lamar County I-75 site
Lamar County, GA
Progress has stalled on Amazon (AWS) Lamar County I-75 site, Amazon Web Services (Amazon Data Services)'s data center project in Lamar County, GA. Amazon's data center arm paid $270M in Aug 2025 for a ~985-acre tract along I-75 in Lamar County, the largest real estate transaction in county history, saying it is 'exploring data center locations' there. Commission Chairman Ryran Traylor pledged discussions with Amazon; Lamar County adopted a data center moratorium in Sept 2025 while updating industrial zoning. No site plan or DRI had been filed as of the latest reports. Separate from AWS's Butts County campus. (Source dated 2025-08-04.).
