Sanford Woods Industrial and Technical Campus data center (Mousam River)
Sanford, York County, ME
Progress has stalled on Sanford Woods Industrial and Technical Campus data center (Mousam River), Randy Gibbs / Sanford Woods developers's data center project in Sanford, ME. Announced in February 2026, the Sanford Woods Industrial and Technical Campus would put a large AI data center on more than 1,000 acres near the Mousam River (Preti Flaherty represents the developer). Residents petitioned for an emergency moratorium, which the City Council adopted in May 2026 and extended for 180 days to Jan. 31, 2027; an Industrial Development Standards Task Force is drafting rules. Lead developer Randy Gibbs says he supports the moratorium and intends to proceed once standards exist. (Source dated 2026-08-05.).
