BrightNight is proposing the Red Butte Energy and Data Center Campus about 8 miles north of Newcastle in western Iron County: a co-located hybrid power (300MW solar, 1,200MWh battery storage, 1.5GW natural gas) and data center campus with up to 1.5GW of AI/data center capacity across as many as 10 buildings (~6.6M sq ft at full build-out). The application, submitted May 4, 2026, was deemed incomplete May 22, 2026 and is now on hold under Iron County's 180-day data-center application moratorium adopted May 26, 2026 after residents raised water, noise and energy concerns at a community open house.
