Meta Jasper County / Monticello Mine Lake data center campus, a data center project in Monticello, GA, has stalled. Meta is behind a proposed hyperscale data center campus on the Mine Lake property south of Monticello; the City of Monticello sought to annex ~600 acres (combined with 700 acres it already owns) and rezone agricultural land to industrial. Jasper County commissioners voted to block the annexation on July 7, 2026 after a packed hearing, but Monticello City Council approved the annexation on Aug 12, 2026 despite bipartisan opposition over water, jobs and process.
