Kentucky Industrial Alliance data center campus (Cave City, KY)
Cave City, Barren County, KY
Work on Kentucky Industrial Alliance data center campus (Cave City, KY) in Cave City, KY has stalled. Reported capacity is 1,200 MW. $4.8B, 600-acre, 1.2GW AI/cloud computing campus proposed by Kentucky Industrial Alliance just outside the entrance to Mammoth Cave National Park. Plans submitted May 11 2026, nine days before Cave City passed a one-year data center moratorium. Developer has filed two lawsuits: one challenging the moratorium as targeted at its already-pipelined project, another disputing the citys 2024 annexation of the site into city limits. Developer says it has spent $2M+ to date and projects ~$45.2M total tax revenue and ~360 jobs; says it would use closed-loop cooling. Local opposition cites groundwater/sinkhole risk in karst terrain near the park. Status as of report: contested/pending litigation, not approved.
