Duke University GPU / AI data center (Central Campus)
Durham, Durham County, NC
Construction is under way on Duke University GPU / AI data center (Central Campus) in Durham, NC. Duke University began construction in June 2026 on a small GPU/AI research data center near its Central Campus, pitched for environmental responsibility and sustainability (Duke Chronicle, June 1, 2026; Inside Climate News, May 21, 2026). Critics questioned whether it can be small enough amid Durham's data center moratoria; university-owned, not a commercial colocation project. (Source dated 2026-06-01.).
