Dickerson Data Center Campus
Dickerson, Montgomery County, MD
Dickerson Data Center Campus, a data center project in Dickerson, MD associated with Atmosphere Data Centers, has stalled. The facility is reported at 360 MW. California-based Atmosphere Data Centers filed with Montgomery County to build a five-building, 360MW data center plus utility-scale battery storage at 21200 Martinsburg Road, on ~110 acres within the decommissioned Dickerson coal power plant's 750+ acre energy campus on the Potomac River, reusing existing transmission/substation infrastructure. The project (expanded from an original two-building 2024 filing) would draw up to 2 million gallons/day of river water for cooling. Montgomery County enacted a data-center moratorium (effective July 28, 2026) that has stalled the project's approval timeline; Atmosphere has challenged the moratorium in court.
