Atlas Power Butte Expansion
Butte, Silver Bow County, MT
Atlas Power Group, a private operator, has announced Atlas Power Butte Expansion, a data center project in Butte, MT. Reported capacity is 150 MW. NorthWestern Energy signed a Letter of Intent with Atlas Power Group (announced late 2024) to supply an additional 150MW to Atlas's existing crypto-mining/HPC facility at 200 Technology Way, Butte (Silver Bow County) -- the former Mike Mansfield Advanced Technology Center/Cryptowatt site, currently operating at ~75MW and not itself in our DB. This expansion tranche is LOI-stage only (no construction start confirmed); a separate 300MW expansion tied to the Basin Creek Solar project was denied by the Butte zoning board. Coordinates are the existing facility's address since the expansion is co-located there.
