American Tower East Charlotte Data Center
Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, NC
Progress has stalled on American Tower East Charlotte Data Center, American Tower Corporation's data center project in Charlotte, NC. American Tower Asset Sub LLC filed Charlotte Rezoning Petition 2024-017 to build a data center on part of its 58-acre wireless-tower site on Hood Road near the Reedy Creek Nature Preserve in east Charlotte, targeting a mid-2028 opening of a roughly 40,000 sq ft facility to sell server space to small/medium businesses. A community petition drew 3,000+ signatures opposing it and the public hearing was deferred multiple times through spring 2026.
