Officials’ statements: how they work
Officials and candidates post their own statements on data centers. Here is who can post, what it costs and how we review them.
Content rules
Keep your statement about where you stand on data centers in the area you represent or are running to represent. We don’t publish statements that impersonate anyone, threaten anyone, or have nothing to do with data centers.
Review
Every statement and every update is reviewed before it appears. We check who posted it and that it follows the content rules. We never judge the position and never edit your words. Each live statement records who posted it, when, and who reviewed it, and the card shows when it was last updated.
If we believe someone is impersonating an official
We take the statement down and suspend the account that posted it, then contact the official through their government or campaign website. If you believe we made a mistake, reply to that notice and we’ll review it.
Reporting a problem
Anyone can use “Report a problem” on a live statement. We review every report.
FAQ for officials and candidates
- Why am I listed?
- Every official and candidate whose district covers part of a county is listed on that county’s page, with their office and next election. Federal and state officials come from public data on Congress and the state legislatures. Mayors come from Wikidata, a public database; other local officials and candidates are added by our team.
- Do I have to post a statement?
- No. Without an active profile your card shows your name, office, status and next election, and “No statement posted”.
- How do I post?
- Click “Claim this profile” on your card. We send a code to the email listed on your government or campaign website. Then you pick a label, write your statement and pay. We review it before it appears.
- Who picks my label?
- You do: Supports, Opposes, or Mixed or conditional. We never research, summarize or assign anyone’s position, and every label looks the same.
- How much does it cost?
- $25 a month, the same for every official and candidate at every level. No discounts, free trials or waived fees for anyone. Cancel anytime.
- How can I pay?
- From campaign or personal funds only. Officeholders can’t pay with government or taxpayer funds, and you confirm that at checkout.
- What is the “Paid for by” line?
- Every statement carries “Paid for by [Committee]. Statement posted by [Official]. Architect Digital does not endorse any candidate.” in the same box and at the same size as your words, with any wording your state requires. Paid from personal funds, it names you.
- Does paying change where I appear?
- No. Officials are ordered by their next election, then by office and last name, never by party, position or payment.
- Can my campaign staff manage it?
- Yes. Staff can claim the profile using the campaign’s listed email and keep the statement current.
- What happens if I cancel or a payment fails?
- Your card goes back to “No statement posted”. We keep your statement, and reactivating restores it.
